Went hospital with mum to visit a relative - my auntie who's been sick for the longest time. She's in such a state that she recognizes no one, except maybe her son & my uncle.
At 67, she looked so old and frail, like a 87 year old. I've not seen her since my teenage years, so it's no surprise that I just stood at mom's side, behaving like a typical impatient kid dying to go home. Wasn't paying attention to the adult's conversation initially. Then I overheard my uncle telling his wife at the bedside.
Stroking her hair, he said: "Don't worry about me ok? And don't miss me when I go home.. I can take care of myself already..."
Tears welled up my eyes..Sometimes we really gotta cherish what we have.
